Contaminated Gasoline at Mapco in Nashville

Contaminated Gasoline at Mapco in NashvilleCars are necessities in America; people rely on them to go to work, to go to school, to run errands, and more. Cars require regular gasoline fill-ups to run, so people stop at gas stations to fill up their fuel tanks. People usually do not encounter problems at gas stations. But once again, Tennessee drivers reportedly have encountered problems at Mapco gas stations in the greater Nashville area.  Apparently, some drivers thought they were filling their vehicles with gasoline but instead filled their tanks with gasoline contaminated by diesel fuel.

Back in 2015, many Tennessee drivers had major car problems after they filled their fuel tanks at particular Nashville Mapco gas stations. The cause of the problems was that the drivers pumped a mixture of gasoline and water, not wholly gasoline, into their fuel tanks.  After Tennessee Department of Agriculture inspectors investigated the matter, Mapco company officials said they corrected the problem.  Unfortunately, other similar problems reportedly have arisen this year (2016).

As of January 7, 2016, the gasoline pumps at nine particular Nashville Mapco gas stations have been closed. Reportedly, in late 2015, drivers stopped at the nine Mapco gas stations to fill their fuel tanks. However, the fill-ups took much longer than they normally do, and once the fill-ups were finished, the drivers’ cars began to exhibit problems. For example, smoke was coming out from one vehicle’s tailpipe. The drivers who filled up at the particular Mapco gas stations filed official complaints with the State. As a result, Tennessee Department of Agriculture investigators were dispatched.  The TDA investigators and their lab analyses found that some fuel pumps labeled as gasoline at the nine Mapco gas stations contained gasoline contaminated by diesel fuel.

The specifics of the earlier gasoline/water mixture problem at Mapco and this more recent diesel-contaminated gasoline problem at Mapco may differ. Nevertheless, the fact remains: Fuel problems at Nashville Mapco gas stations and the resultant vehicle problems is a serious issue for drivers.
